The Hitting Zone

The NHL just makes it up as they go along, why can't we?

My Stanley Cup Final Pick

Boston Bruins vs Vancouver Canucks

Not that it will come as a shock to anyone who knows me or has read much of what I have written over the past week or so, but I want the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup.  It’s not an easy call for me to make, but I am making it.  Bruins in 6.

Reasoning Against Vancouver: Well of all the Canadian teams, I really dislike them the most.  More than the Habs (Leafs are my girlfriend team) and more than the Flames (Oiler’s AHL affiliate plays here in OKC).  Why do I dislike them?  They gave me reason to not like them.  The players on their team are pretty arrogant as is their organization for not having done anything yet.  The sense of entitlement oozing out of them and Canadian media make me instinctively pull away from them.  As I stated in an earlier post and have repeated numerous times the Canucks came to Consol last November, got beat and then told any media member who would listen how unimpressed they were with the Penguins and how they should have won.  Shoulda, coulda, woulda….. didn’t.  Maybe you should have played a better game of hockey that night instead of trying to make yourselves feel better in the room afterwards with self righteous conceit.  Only player on their roster I approach respect for is Ryan Kessler.

Reasoning for Boston: Nowadays I really don’t like Boston either.  I like them at a young age because I associated my love of Bobby Orr to the Bruins.  As I grew I up I learned you don’t love a team just because you like a player on it.  I don’t like Boston as a sports town period.  They are entitled as well as a sports city ever since the Patriots figured out how to win and the Sox shook the curse.  Boston is an Original Surviving 6 team which adds more to why I shouldn’t like them.   I am not a fan of Zdeno Chara after the Max Pacioretty incident.  However I do like Tim Thomas & I do have lingering feelings for Mark Recchi.

In the end the positives for Boston are minuscule but they haven’t insulted my team recently.  Its that simple.

  1. Very nice article man. Honestly though, I think that the Canucks have the edge in the series. The only thing I don’t have them edging the Bruins in is goaltending but with the way Thomas has been playing you can’t really say the Bruins have the edge here. Nevertheless, Thomas could get hot at any time and that could be very scary for the Canucks. The depth on defence or offence for the Bruins doesn’t quite match up with Vancouver, especially with Malhotra coming back. The Bruins should hope that Ryan Kesler still isn’t 100% because if he is they’re going to have some problems matching up with all the Canucks can throw at them. The Canucks should beat the Bruins but anything can happen in the NHL playoffs and an upset isn’t out of the question by any means. Should be an outstanding series for sure. Also, you think you could check out my blog cuz I wanna know what you think.
