The NHL just makes it up as they go along, why can't we?

Sea Dogs Win Off Of Blown Call

The St. John Sea Dogs won their opening game of the Memorial Cup Tournament Friday night against the host Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.  They won it on a goal that stemmed from a blow offsides call.

“The replay on the brand new video scoreboard at the Hershey Centre showed it clearly – Saint John Sea Dogs forward Zack Phillips over the Majors blue line before the puck. The in-house feed picked up what was being shown across Canada on Sportsnet. The broadcaster added a telestrator-created yellow circle around the puck.

What they didn’t show was Sea Dogs forward Michael Kirkpatrick  dishing off to teammate Nathan Beaulieu, who beat Majors goaltender JP Anderson to give the the QMJHL champions a two goal lead in what was a 4-3 final” – From Buzzing the Net

No one likes when a call or blown call decides a game, especially in a championship tournament.  However this is the Canadian Hockey League.  Much like the players in it these officials are working their way up.  Mistakes are part of it at that level.
